Today is the 1st Anniversary of Idiot’s Kitchen!

One year ago today, it all started with Pork Chops with Tomaotoes and Sage and Green Beans with Caramelized Shallots.

One year and 97 recipes later….

Thanks to Mike’s Grandma Kenney, I’ve overcome my 45 year long hatred of meatloaf. No small task.

Apple Meatloaf.  SO good.

This is probably my favorite recipe from Idiot’s Kitchen. I never knew meatloaf could be this good.

You might be interested to know that 16% of our recipes have been for Chicken, 8% Beef, 6% Pork, and 11% Seafood.

13% Veggies and Salads, 11% Soups, and 12% Desserts.

Most surprising to me, as I looked back at all the recipes is that it took me 6 months and 47 recipes BEFORE I posted something with chocolate.

Good grief. Anyone who knows me well knows that it wasn’t for my lack of eating chocolate on my own time.

And speaking of chocolate….

if you haven’t tried these Chocolate Caramel Brownies you need to get yourself into the kitchen ASAP.

According to the good folks at The Google, the most popular recipe thus far is…..

Spaghetti & Meatballs!

Google also tells me that I’m not the only one completely crazy about Italian Sausage because….

Baked Italian Sausage with Peppers & Onions is the most searched for recipe.

I just asked my husband and he says (also a surprise to me) that his favorite recipe is Italian Wedding Soup.

But no matter what’s cooking, the main thing that makes Idiot’s Kitchen fun is YOU.

Thank you so much for your comments, suggestions, and requests.

Thank you for putting up with many photos of cats.

“If you drop that chicken leg, I’ll get the other cats in here and we’ll make a #1 like those weird grey William Wegman dogs.”

Many of you come here through our happy little group over at FACEBOOK.

It was a really fun day when I realized that there were more Facebook Friends of Idiot’s Kitchen who I’ve never personally met than friends who I bribed with snickerdoodles to hit the “like” button.

Special thanks to my husband, Jim and family (especially Paula & Mike) for their help, support and recipes.

I wish I could have you ALL over for a big thank you party.

Maybe next year everyone can come on down! We’ll rent out the VFW.

Thanks SO much!

  1. Congrats Claudia! I’m looking forward to trying some of your recently posted ones – especially the zucchini ones. I’ve got a lot of them up here. I’d trade you some for those wonderful looking limes!
